Brussels Sprouts with Bacon, Avocado, & Lime
I never realized how much I love these cute little guys, mostly because I've only tried them just a handful of times... but they really are both pleasing to the eyes and stomach. Here's a recipe I tried out just last night and was a huge fan of. I'll totally make this one again, it was super easy, and very tasty!
Ingredients
1 lb Brussels Sprouts (I bought our package from Trader Joes)
2 Slices of Bacon (I intended to use three, but ending up eating the third piece)
2 Garlic Cloves (minced)
Juice of 1 Lime
1 Avocado (sliced)
Pinch of Red Pepper Flakes
Olive Oil (only needed if your bacon doesn't create enough fat)
Salt & Pepper
Instructions
Cook your bacon in a large skillet. While that is cooking slice your sprouts and put those to the side.
After your bacon is cooked (crispy) remove that from the pan and set to the side.
Next, add a bit of olive oil if you feel that your bacon did not create enough grease to cook your sprouts in.
Saute your Brussels sprouts along with your minced garlic & your crushed red pepper flakes. Once your sprouts have begun to soften add your lime juice, crumbled bacon & salt and pepper to taste.
After all your ingredients are mixed in move the Brussels sprouts to one side of the pan so that you can warm up your avocado.
After your avocado is warmed plate your Brussels sprouts and mix everything together...
Enjoy!
